Egypt’s Alexandria Cotton Exporters’ Association (Alcotexa) committed to sell 1,487.5 tons of cotton in the week that ended on Nov. 6, an Alcotexa official told Reuters on Sunday.
The sales comprised 195 tons of Giza 88, 25 tons of Giza 70, 11.5 tons of Giza 90 and 1,256 tons of Giza 86, the official said.
Alcotexa’s export commitments for the 2010/11 season, which began in September, are now 81,770.5 tons of cotton worth $290.54 million, the official said.
By this time last year, Alcotexa had sold 18,303 tons of cotton worth $38.6 million.
