CARIO: Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim said that a donation bank account could be opened this week to aid the club’s financial crisis.

The interim Zamalek chief admitted last month that the club’s funds were limited to just $35,000, following the sacking of Mamdouh Abbas’ board.

While businessman Abbas has been urged to keep providing his financial support, the Cairo club now turned to loyal supporters to add more cash.

"We are considering opening the account this week so that Zamalek lovers would send them their donations," Ibrahim said.

"This operation is safe because the bank will supervise all transactions. So the board should face no problems."

Zamalek debts are believed to be over LE 100 million; a stance which could see them sell star players like midfield hotshot Shikabala.

The Whites are also struggling to extend the contracts of key duo Hani Saied and Mahmoud Fathallah.
