CAIRO: Independent candidate in Cairo’s Qasr El-Nil constituency, Gamila Ismail, filed a complaint at the prosecution office after she found her candidacy number changed from 17 to 14 on the day of the elections.
Naglaa Fawzy, general coordinator of Ismail’s campaign, claimed that people were brought in shuttle buses to vote for National Democratic Party candidate Hesham Khalil.
In one station, voters were asked to write their names on voting cards to be able to vote; when Ismail complained the polling station was closed.
In Qasr El-Nil School, registered voters weren’t allowed to vote with their national ID cards despite election laws allowing them to do so if they are registered in the voters’ rosters.
Clashes took place in front of the school but were contained shortly after.
