CAIRO: Ahly defender Sherif Abdul-Fadil has been ruled out of Thursday’s league game at Smouha due to a groin injury, whereas striker Mohamed Fadl returns to the squad.

The Egypt international joins keepers Sayed Moawad, Hossam Ashour, Shehab Ahmed, Francis Doe and long-term absentee Ahmed Hassan in the team’s long injury list.

Goalkeepers Sherif Ekrami and Ahmed Adel are also out, leaving Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud and Mohamed Mokhtar to deputize.

Ahly’s 18-man list, however, included striker Fadl, who has been out of action for more than a month with a knee injury.

The Smouha game will be the first test for new Ahly boss Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Shafi ‘Zizo’, who took over from Hossam Al-Badri on a temporary basis.
