CAIRO: Ahly’s U-20s grabbed a morale-boosting 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Zamalek in crowd-less youth league match on Tuesday.
Striker Abdul-Rahman Ahmed scored the only goal of the game after 30 minutes at Helmi Zamora Stadium.
The match featured a number of first-team players at both ends, with Osama Hosni starting for Ahly before being replaced by summer signing Abdul-Hamid Shabana.
On the other hand, the Zamalek team included Hossam Arafat, Ahmed Tawfik, Hazem Emam and Mohamed Ibrahim, amid the presence of manager Hossam Hassan.
Even though the match was played behind closed doors, a number of players from both sides were embroiled in a post-match scuffle that had to be stopped by stewards.
Zamalek remain third on 13 points, while Ahly are fourth on 12, but have two games in hand.
