CAIRO: Mido admitted that he has to work hard once again in order to convince new Ajax manager Franck de Boer with his capabilities.

Mido fell down the pecking order with the arrival of De Boer in place of Martin Jol, who needed a couple of months to start involving the Egyptian in his first-team plans.

While he has yet to play a single minute under De Boer, Mido is still keen to impress the former Holland captain.

“I didn’t feature in De Boer’s plans recently, so the situation needs patience. I have to prove my worth,” the 27-year-old told FilGoal.com.

“When I joined Ajax at the start of the season I was very far from being involved with the first team, but then I worked hard until I convinced Jol and eventually I became a starter.

“Now I have to repeat the whole process again with De Boer to prove myself again.

“I learnt from my experiences in recent years not to get bored and to be patient and more resilient without causing problems.”

Mido was hardly settled during the past couple of years which saw him play for Middlesbrough, Wigan and West Ham in England, in addition to a brief spell with Zamalek in between.

Ahly link

Mido laughed off reports linking him with a move to Ahly, reaffirming his loyalty to old club Zamalek.

“There was no contact with Ahly at all. These talks are totally false,” the Egypt international added.

“As I said before, if I thought of returning to Egypt, it will be with Zamalek. For now I am staying with Ajax until the end of this season.”
