Some 71,000 draw-bar trailers are expected to be replaced by August 2012, according to the minister of finance, Al-Ahram reported.
AlembicHC reported that the ministry has negotiated with Banque Du Caire, Alex Bank (previously Bank of Alexandria), and Nasser Bank to finance around 34,000 of the trailer replacements at an interest rate of 6.25 percent.
Trailer owners will be allowed to purchase new trailers from local manufacturers to import them free of sales tax and import tariffs. The names of the authorized manufacturers (local and foreign) will be announced within the next few days.
