CAIRO: Egypt’s in-form striker Al-Sayed Hamdi is not tempted by interest from Ahly and Zamalek as he intends to achieve something for Petrojet.

Hamdi has proven to be a revelation for Egypt in the ongoing Nile Basin tournament, topping the scorers list with three goals in as many games so far.

While Zamalek are admittedly interested and Ahly’s search for another striker continues, Hamdi doesn’t seem to be paying much attention to the speculation.

“I know about the interest from other clubs, but my club is holding to me and I respect the board’s decision,” the 26-year-old told FilGoal.com.

“I am staying with Petrojet until the end of the season at least and I hope to achieve something for the club that presented me to the national team.

“I am very happy with my performance with the national team and I want to thank the manager (Hassan Shehata) for his faith.

“I was unlucky at times with Petrojet during the first half of the season, but I think I’ve rediscovered my form in this tournament and my goals here have revived me.

“I hope to establish my place in the team in competitive matches as well.”

Hamdi, who has three goals to his name for Petrojet so far this season, has yet to find the net in a competitive match with Egypt.
