CAIRO: Ahmed Hassan’s exclusion from Ahly’s provisional Champions League squad is by no means an indication for his exit, but Francis Doe could is one player who could be soon offload, says the club’s transfer guru Adli Al-Qaeyi.
Egypt skipper Hassan, who runs out of contract by the end of the season, has been surprisingly left out of the Red Devils’ 25-man list, fueling speculation about a probable exit.
However, Al-Qaeyi ruled out that the veteran midfielder’s exclusion adds any doubt regarding his future with the club.
“It is unsuitable to relate Hassan’s name to such rumors. He is not a player to be evaluated,” Ahly’s marketing director said in Modern Kora TV.
“But Francis’ exclusion is an indication for something. We are looking for a new striker and to have Francis’ name out of the list is a hint for something, yes.”
Former Liberian international Doe joined Ahly in the summer of 2009 from USA’s DC United to replace departing Angolan Flavio Amado.
However, the muscular forward has been anything but consistent with the league holders, largely due to his continuous injury problems.
