CAIRO: Gabon’s President Ali Bongo Ondimba met on Saturday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, on his first visit to the country since taking office in 2009, the official MENA news agency reported.
The two leaders "discussed several African issues as well as promoting bilateral relations," it said.
Bongo arrived in Egypt on Friday accompanied by a large delegation including the ministers of foreign affairs, health and education.
Bongo has ruled Gabon since winning presidential elections in 2009, held after the death of his father Omar Bongo who held power for more than four decades.
Egypt and Gabon established diplomatic relations in 1973.
