ANKARA: A Turkish official says President Abdullah Gul will visit Egypt on March 3 for talks with the country’s new leaders.
The official said Tuesday that discussion will focus on the aftermath of 18-day protests that forced president Hosni Mubarak to step down.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with official rules.
The state-run Anatolia news agency said Gul’s visit aims to showcase Turkey’s solidarity with the Egyptian people.
The visit comes amid growing Turkish influence in the Middle East.
