BAGHDAD: Roadside bombs in the Iraqi capital have killed four people, including two soldiers, and wounded more than 20 other people, the interior ministry said on Sunday.

Two bombs killed a civilian and wounded seven people, including three policemen, in central Baghdad early on Sunday, a ministry official said.

Another bomb a few minutes later wounded six people, among them three policemen.

Late Saturday, a bomb blast targeted an army patrol in northern Baghdad, killing two soldiers and a civilian and wounding nine, including six soldiers.

Violence across Iraq has dramatically fallen since its peak in 2006-2007, but bomb attacks and kidnappings remain common.

A total of 197 people – 119 civilians, 45 policemen and 33 soldiers – died in attacks across Iraq last month, according to an official report compiled by several ministries.

The February toll was 24 percent lower than the previous month’s.
