CAIRO: The Al-Wafd, Al-Tagammu and Nasserist parties said Sunday that they didn’t receive invitations to participate in an anticipated national dialogue called upon by the government.
In a joint statement, the parties said that they did not receive any agenda that will be included in this dialogue and that no one from the government contacted them in this regard.
"Participating in this dialogue requires presenting an agenda before our entitled inner partisan authorities," the statement said.
Prime Minister Essam Sharaf said Saturday in a press conference that the government called for a national dialogue set to start on Wednesday and will comprise 160 participants representing all streams of the society.
The three parties held an emergency meeting at Al-Tagammu Party’s headquarters to respond to Sharaf’s call.
"We stress on the importance of dialogue between all societal components but this should take place on appropriate basis to make this dialogue acceptable in its preparations or its agenda," the statement read.
