Danone Egypt to launch milk farm in 2011

CAIRO: Danone Egypt, which has been producing yogurt in the market since 2008, said it will inaugurate its first milk farm in the world this year in Egypt, according to a statement.

Floris Wissling, Danon CEO, said the company has “non-stop investments in Egypt, as Danone invested LE 450 million in 2006 in the field of yogurt production and distribution.”

Danone Egypt, which does not export any of its products, all of which go to domestic consumption, said it “possesses one of the strongest distribution networks in Egypt which enable it to serve rural areas across the country which previously had no access to manufactured yogurt.”

Danone’s currently produces Mixy, Activia, Danette and Disney yogurts.

Danone Egypt had family 355 employees in 2006, which grew to 730 employees in 2011.
