TUNIS: A sister of former Tunisian President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali has been arrested, authorities said, making her the latest of several of his relatives to be detained since a revolt overthrew him in January.
Najet ben Ali, detained in the region of Sousse, 150 km (100 miles) south of Tunis, was the subject of an arrest warrant, the Interior Ministry said on Friday without elaborating.
Economic analysts have said they suspect she will face charges of financial wrongdoing.
Ben Ali ruled Tunisia for 24 years until he was ousted by a popular movement which sparked copycat protests across the Arab world. He has since been sheltering in Saudi Arabia.
More than 30 members of his family and that of his wife were arrested in the days following the fall of his regime. Some have been since charged with economic crimes and abuse of power.
