WASHINGTON: The US Senate on Thursday confirmed former Pakistan troubleshooter Anne Patterson to be the next US ambassador to Egypt, a posting key to Washington’s response to the turmoil of the "Arab Spring."
Lawmakers unanimously approved Patterson to the post.
The Senate also confirmed President Barack Obama’s picks to be top US diplomat in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Djibouti, Rwanda, Senegal and Guinea-Bisseau, Malawi, Paraguay, Guyana, Honduras and Kazakhstan.
