CAIRO: The Alexandria Emergency Court will investigate on Sept. 25 a complaint filed against Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, Minister of Interior Mansour El-Essawy, and Prosecutor General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud for their reluctance to investigate the case of Al-Qeddesine Church bombing.

The complaint, filed by the Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod, demanded that the government and Mahmoud announce the results of the investigations into the bombing of the Church of the Two Saints that left 24 dead and tens injured last New Year’s Eve.

The complaint also asked Mahmoud to order the Ministry of Interior to finish the investigations required in the case, present the defendants to the court, and interrogate former minister of interior Habib El-Adly for the inadequate security around churches.

The complaint also questions El-Adly’s releasing of the defendants accused in the bombing.

"We filed many complaints to the Prosecutor General over the past months but all went in vain, we even presented complaints to the ruling military council," said the church’s lawyer Joseph Malak.

"We filed this complaint after we were sure that none of these authorities has any intention to complete the investigations," he added.
