CAIRO: Egyptian Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzoury named a regional security official as interior minister just hours before his new Cabinet was due to be sworn in, the state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram reported on Wednesday.
Rounding off the key appointments to the new Cabinet, El-Ganzoury named General Mohamed Ibrahim, former head of the interior ministry’s security directorate in Giza province, to head the ministry, according to Al-Ahram.
El-Ganzoury was appointed by the country’s ruling generals after the previous government resigned last month during clashes between police and protesters demanding the army quit power.
