CAIRO: The trial of ousted president Hosni Mubarak, his two sons, former interior minister and senior police officers accused of ordering the killing of protesters during the January uprising, is scheduled to resume on Wednesday Dec. 28, following a three-month halt to decide whether to replace the judge presiding over the case.

Earlier this month, the court turned down an appeal for a new judge which was filed by lawyers representing the martyrs’ families to change Judge Ahmed Refaat.

Television cameras, which were allowed in for the opening sessions, will not be allowed in court when the trial resumes.

The accused, who are facing a range of charges including involvement in killing protesters, were in the Cairo court on Sunday when the judge announced the adjournment.
