CAIRO: The People’s Assembly (PA) committee for Arab affairs called Monday for expelling the Israeli ambassador in Egypt and recalling the Egyptian ambassador in Tel Aviv, in condemnation of Israel’s “barbaric crimes” against the Palestinians.
The call came as Israeli warplanes pounded anew the Gaza Strip raising the death toll from four days of violence to 25, before Egypt brokered a truce between both sides.
The committee’s suggestion was received with a round of applause from the MPs in support of the committee’s statement.
“Revolutionary Egypt will never befriend, partner with or be an ally of the Zionist entity who we consider the first enemy of Egypt and the Arab nation,” head of the Arab affairs, Mohamed Saeid Idrees said, reading out a statement issued by the committee.
The committee also called for halting exporting gas to Israel and an Arab boycott of the “Zionist entity,” as part of the resistance against Israeli aggression.
“These brutal crimes stem first from the colonial and aggressive nature of this entity that stripped the people’s land to establish its racist state,” Idrees said referring to Israel.
The statement slammed the US administration, saying that its support to and alliance with Israel encouraged the latter to commit these crimes against the Palestinian people.
