Sixteen year-old Ahmed Naguib is in a coma at Al-Helal hospital in Cairo after he was injured in clashes in Downtown Cairo on Monday night.

Waleed Nada, a member of the We Care about Human Beings group which is following Naguib’s case said, “Ahmed is not in the same situation as Jika,” referring to Gaber Salah Gaber who died on Sunday evening after suffering brain injuries sustained during clashes with police on Mohamed Mahmoud Street.

Nada reported, “he was shot in the brain just like Jika. The bullets went through the back of his skull and there is one left in there which is causing the coma. His brain functions are still working but are declining and he is in a very dangerous situation.” He added, “he can breathe but a machine is assisting him because his breathing is very heavy.”

Naguib is from Dar El Salam in Cairo and was taking part in demonstrations against President Mohamed Morsy’s constitutional declaration, which was announced on Thursday. According to Nada, Naguib sustained his injuries in Simon Bolivar square behind Omar Makram Mosque, which is where Gaber’s funeral took place on Monday.
