Clashes broke out in Alexandria on Friday between protesters and security forces in front of Mansheya police station and the local council building.

“Security forces used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters” said Hassan Mahrous, a political activist in Alexandria.

A number of injuries resulted from the clashes but no casualties were reported. Some protesters suffered blackouts from the tear gas.

The march started at Al-Qa’ed Ibrahim mosque and was met by security forces. The protesters were chanting “peaceful, peaceful,” according to Mahrous.

“There were people standing next to security officers who threw stones at protesters. They are thugs,” he added.
