The Nile Project is hosting its first Cairo concert. The project was founded by Egyptian ethnomusicologist Mina Girgis and Ethiopian-American singer Meklit Hadero and is currently being incubated by Nahdet El Mahrousa.

This image was taken by Karina Al Piarro, a photojournalist who has been involved with the Project and documenting it since its inception. The image beautifully captures what the project is all about: the lives of 400 million people who depend on the Nile and its water.

Tonight, the concert takes place in Azhar Park at 8pm, featuring musicians from countries of the Nile Basin. Attendance is free.
