The statue of Egyptian author Taha Hussein, made by artist Essam Darwish, has been included in the artistic collection of the Egyptian Writers’ Union, during a renovation project of the union’s Zamalek building.

Head of the union Mohamed Al Salamawy said that the statue was a gift from the artist, and will join a collection of exceptional artwork as a main element of the remodelled interior décor.

The collection includes works by some of the most famous Egyptian artists, including Salah Taher, Ahmed Fouad Selim, Mostafa Al Razzaz, Nazli Madkour, and others. The collection’s total value is thought to be valued at over one million Egyptian pounds.

Taha Hussein’s statue is one of sculptor Essam Darwish’s most important works, and has already been placed at the entrance of the union’s meeting hall.
