Egypt Telecom announced that it would extend its grace period for payment of telephone landlines for the yearly quarter ending in January 2013 to the end of March for customers living in Port Said, Ismailia and Suez. This would be done, he said, without adding fees to pay for additional administrative costs.
Muhammad al-Nuwawi, President and General Director of Egypt Telecom, said that the decision came in response to recent events in these three cities which have made it difficult for customers to pay their invoices.
He added that these steps would only apply to those customers who pay their invoices using special company collection centres in the three cities. Those making payments outside of Egypt Telecom collection systems would still be required to pay additional administrative fees for late payments. However, they would receive discounts on administrative costs for future invoices. These steps would take place from the beginning of March to the end of the month.
Payment dates for Egypt Telecom invoices are usually scheduled for 20 January, April, July and October, whereas payments for administrative costs are usually made during February, May, August and November. Customers throughout Egypt can pay these invoices using the country’s 754 telegraph stations, 59 service centres, 189 Greater Cairo and Upper Egypt specific service centres, 1,891 post offices, immediate payment services located in over 1,000 pharmacies and supermarkets throughout the country, or online via the company’s website.
