Al-Jama’a Al-Islamiya leaders Safwat Abdel Ghany and Tarek Al-Zommor arrived on Saturday in the Qatari capital.

Abdel Ghany is the head of the Building and Development Party’s (BDP) political bureau, while Al-Zommor is the party’s official spokesperson. The BDP is Al-Jama’a Al-Islamiya’s political wing.

Abdel Ghany and Al-Zommor are expected to return within a couple of days. Mohamed Hassan, a party official, said they are in Qatar on behalf of the BDP.

The pair is expected to discuss the latest incidents in Egypt and the region during their visit.

Media Coordinator Khaled Al-Sherif and party leader Alaa Abu Al-Nasr stated that they are unaware of the details regarding the purpose of the visit.

Al-Zommor was in prison until the break-out of the 25 January revolution for complicity in assassinating former president Anwar Al-Sadat.
