The Salafi Al-Nour Party recently said that the Al-Azhar Senior Scholars Committee will resubmit the country’s amended sukuk law to the Shura Council, in order to review, alter and change those clauses that have been deemed controversial.

Al-Azhar’s involvement in redrafting the law came after as a result of continuous lobbying efforts made by the Nour Party, in cooperation with Al-Azhar Grand Shaykh, Mohamed Ahmed Al-Tayyib.

A number of scholars and economic experts gathered in recent days to discuss and give their opinions regarding the law, having already submitted a memorandum to President Morsi regarding progress made so far.

The Nour Party expressed its confidence that the new version of the law would be one that addressed the needs and concerns of all the nation’s political parties.

According to an announcement made by Presidential Spokesman Amr Amir, President Morsi first announced on Sunday night that the law would be sent to Al-Azhar for review.
