Qatar-based investment bank QInvest has appointed Michael Katounas as president of the bank’s investment sector. He will be tasked with helping to chart the bank’s regional and worldwide investment policy.

Commenting on the appointment of Katounas, CEO of QInvest Tamim Al-Kawari stated that “I would like to take the opportunity to welcome Mr. Katounas as our new Investment Sector President. He has extensive experience working in the industry, and brings along with him a wide network of international contacts that will be greatly beneficial to the company.”

He added: “Michael was our top choice to lead our investment team, as part of an attempt to increase our market share in a number of growing Middle East markets such as Turkey.

Commenting on his recent appointment, Katounas himself said that “QInvest has repeatedly made a number of great strides in the market, despite the declining state of the world economy, and I firmly believe that the bank has the potential to continue doing so in the future. Furthermore, the bank is well known regionally and internationally, and is equipped with a competent team and staff, all factors which make it a highly competitive institution on both the local and international stages”.

Katounas has 15 years of experience in the investment banking sector, working in London, Dubai, Amsterdam and Greece before joining QInvest. He spent more than eight years working as part of the investment banking team with Credit Suisse, where he oversaw a number of deals in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. Katounas holds a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and is a chartered financial analyst.
