President Mohamed Morsi said on Saturday on his official Twitter account that a cabinet reshuffle and the appointments of new governors are to be announced “soon”.
No more details were available on the changes, but Morsi added that the “most efficient will hold the responsibility”.
In January, ten new ministers were sworn in. Four of them were known to be Muslim Brotherhood members.
The move comes amid calls by protesters for a cabinet reshuffle. Protesters and opposition groups have called for Morsi to replace Prime Minister Hesham Qandil and his government.
In several presidential press conferences, former vice president Mahmoud Mekki and ex-presidential spokesperson Yasser Ali have denied reports that Qandil will be replaced.
