A Cairo criminal court acquitted on Monday former Housing Minister Ahmed Al-Maghrabi from charges of squandering public money and illegally seizing state-owned lands worth L.E. 25 million.
The prosecution had accused Maghrabi of profiteering during his time in office. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
He was acquitted in 2012, but he faced a retrial.
