Soheib Imam, a Muslim Brotherhood Guidance Bureau bodyguard, was released on Monday on bail of EGP 500.

Imam was accused of assaulting journalists and activists outside the Guidance Bureau headquarters in Moqattam last month. He denied the accusations, but confirmed that he was present at the time of the incidents.

A video circulated by the media and on social networks shows Imam slapping Popular Current member Mervat Moussa in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.

Defence attorney Gamal Hanafy stated that there is no evidence that Imam assaulted anyone, claiming that there is no medical proof supporting the allegations. Hanafy added that he will present witnesses to support his case in court.

The incident took place last month when activists drew anti-Muslim Brotherhood graffiti by the Guidance Bureau headquarters in Moqattam, resulting in clashes between supporters and opponents of the Brotherhood.
