EgyptAir is offering its customers a 19% discount on plane tickets and a 25% discount on tickets booked online on 7 May, in celebration of the airline’s 81st anniversary.

General Marketing Manager Magda Metwally added that the 25% discount would also apply to those who use the airline’s mobile application while purchasing their plane tickets.

Regular customers will also receive free plus bonus miles till 8 May, according to EgyptAir employee Mohamed El-Alfy, who appeared in a company video to announce the offers.

Metwally said that “regular customers will receive up to 3,000 free plus bonus miles for platinum card holders, 2,000 for the golden card holders, 1,000 for silver card holders and 500 for classic card members”.

The company has also announced a Facebook competition where participants post photos of themselves at Egyptian historical landmarks. The top five winners will receive free tickets.

“The first winner will be given two international business class tickets to anywhere in the world, the second winner will be given two international tickets in economy class,” Metwally said.

“The third-placed winner will receive a free economy ticket and a 50% discount on a second ticket,” she continued.

The competition also promises two domestic flight tickets to whoever takes fourth place, and one for whoever comes in fifth.

Participants may submit their photos until 10 May, and the selection process will begin five days later. Results of the competition will be announced on 20 May.

Metwally said that the competition was a way to advertise for people abroad to visit Egypt.

“There’s a long history behind this place, and a lot of memories and special service provided,” she said.

“EgyptAir thought this year that the best way to celebrate the company’s anniversary is through communicating with its passengers.”
