On Wednesday 3 July the Ministry of Interior issued a statement vowing to protect the Egyptian people during the turbulent times the country is currently facing.

In the statement, the police forces stated that they would “use any possible means within their power” to protect the Egyptian people and uphold their responsibility for the people’s security.

The statement added that the police forces promise to fight and stop all forms of violence facing the protesters and to work alongside the “valiant” Egyptian armed forces.
