A forensic report released on Sunday stated that a body found in the area of Rabaa Al-Adaweya, where supporters of the ousted former president Mohamed Morsi have been rallying, showed signs of torture.
The report indicated that the toenails of Amr Kamel Ali, 33, had been removed, there were signs of swelling on the victim’s head, and various wounds on his chest and back, according to state-owned Al-Ahram.
Ali’s body was in Zeinhom Morgue on Monday pending a permit from the Public Prosecutor to hand it over to his family and authorisation of a burial permit.
Ali was a resident of Masakan Atlas Al-Salam and a textile worker.
Supporters of the ousted president have continued demonstrating at Rabaa Al-Adaweya in Nasr City since the end of last month, in protest against the removal of Morsi from power and his detention by the armed forces.
