Over the past couple of years a complete industry has sprung up around the demonstrations that have filled the streets of Egypt. The tea vendors show up first, with the inexplicable but colourful candy floss man closely in their wake. Foul and ta’ameya carts set up next to colleagues that sell juice and ice cream, providing sustenance to those who spend long hours standing up for what they believe in.

Accessories are also much sought after merchandise, and if you find yourself confused which protest you accidently stumbled upon, a quick look at the vendors will immediately clarify where you are. Yesterday the streets were filled with vendors hawking the image of the man of the hour, as seen on this example.
