General Motors Egypt reopened on Sunday to continue operations after suspending its work on Thursday due to spiraling violence.
The company, which employs approximately 1,400 workers in Egypt, confirmed that there were no losses due to the closure and none of its branches were targeted by acts of violence.
Earlier, General Motors halted production operations in their plant in 6th of October City to ensure the safety and security of their employees and stated that they were monitoring the security situation.
Electrolux, the multinational home appliance company, with around 6,000 workers in Egypt, resumed business in the market on Sunday, after suspending work on Wednesday and Thursday to ensure the safety of its staff.
The Swedish company said in a press statement that they are closely monitoring the security situation, while also pointing out the importance of the Egyptian market.
BASF’s Construction Chemicals Company, the leading supplier of chemical systems and formulations for the construction industry, resumed its work on Sunday after halting production on Thursday, a day after violence erupted across Egypt, according to Reuters.
Oil giant Shell told the Daily News Egypt on Saturday that they intend to resume operations, which were suspended on Thursday, on Sunday denying rumours that Shell will halt operations indefinitely.
Meanwhile, Majed Al-Futtaim, a real estate company, reportedly suspended work on Wednesday because of escalating violence, according to Reuters.
