The Supreme Administrative Court issued its verdict on Saturday upholding the ruling canceling the privatization of Tanta Flax and Oil Company.

Minister of Manpower and Immigration Kamal Abu Eita attended the court session in support of the company’s workers.

The verdict is final and enforceable, as the Supreme Administrative Court is the top level of the judiciary regarding administrative cases.

In September 2011, the administrative court annulled the privatisation of the company, which was sold in February 2005 to Saudi investor, Sheikh Mohammed Saleh Kaki. The board of commissioners in the Supreme Administrative Court advised that the case be returned to court due to a procedural mistake. Saturday’s verdict came as corroboration to the verdict issued by the administrative court in September 2011.

Dokki Misdemeanour Court ruled on 17 April 2013 to dismiss former Prime Minister Hesham Qandil from office and sentenced him to a year in prison for failing to uphold the administrative court verdict.
