A Ministry of Interior delegation lead by interim Minister of Interior Mohamed Ibrahim congratulated the armed forces on the occasion of the anniversary of the October War.
Ibrahim personally congratulated interim Minister of Defence Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi on Sunday, said a statement from the armed forces spokesperson on Tuesday. Ibrahim also thanked “Al-Sisi and the men of the armed forces for their support for the police in the face of crime, the arrest of outlaws and restoring security and stability to all the governorates in Egypt.”
Al-Sisi, in turn thanked the Ministry of Interior for “the efforts to maintain internal security and spread feelings of security among the children of the nation.” He stressed that Egypt’s interests are “above any other consideration” adding that the army and police “are honest and loyal to Egypt and its people and the protection of the state is the responsibility of every” member of the armed forces and police.
The interim Minister of Defence stressed the need for “attention to all threats aimed at destabilising the security and stability of Egypt.” Al-Sisi called for increased coordination between the two institutions to ensure the safety and security of Egypt’s citizens.
Following the meeting Ibrahim gifted police body armour to the armed forces and handed over the Ministry of Interior plaque to Al-Sisi.
Sunday’s anniversary saw demonstrators clash with security forces resulting in at least 50 deaths and around 250 injuries in clashes around the capital.
