The Egyptian cup saw a dramatic win for Wadi-Degla who beat a strong Ismaily side on penalties while Al Zamalek SC beat Tala’ea Al-Geish 2-1 on Sunday at Gouna stadium, where the final will also be played.
Striker Ahmad Gaafar and Hazem Emam scored for Zamalek, with Ayman Hefny scoring for Tala’ea Al-Geish in a match dominated by the White Knights.
Ismaily SC was beaten by Wadi Degla 8-6 on penalties after a 90-minute goalless draw.
Despite usually being played in Cairo, the Egyptian Football Association decided that the final should be played in Gouna stadium for security purposes.
“We are not concerned over whether it will be played in Gouna or Cairo,” said Zamalek Coach Osama Nabih on the team’s official website. “Our team is only focused on the match itself.”
Zamalek had asked the football federation to allow fans to visit the game, but the request was denied.
