AFP – A woman tests a pair of Google glasses equiped with LIS (Italian Sign Language – ‘Linguaggio Italiano dei Segni’) capabilities and created to help deaf people during their visit of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, on 11 November, 2013. The Museum of Egyptian Antiquity (“Museo delle Antichite Egizie”) in Turin is dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture, and it is the first museum of its kind to use the interactive glasses to assist deaf people during their visit. An actor using sign language is projected onto the small video screen integrated into the glasses, thereby providing historical information and explanations to deaf visitors throughout the exhibition.
