Heliopolis prosecution ordered on Tuesday the detention of former Minister of Supply Bassem Ouda for an additional 15 days pending further investigations, reported state owned Al-Ahram.

The Heliopolis court accused Ouda of inciting murder, attempted murder, thuggery, vandalism of public and private property, endangering the lives of citizens, disrupting traffic, and possession of weapons and explosives during the Republican Guard clashes on 8 July.

According to the Doctor’s Syndicate, the incident resulted in the death of 84 people, while official numbers put the death count at 53 civilians and four security personnel.

Giza prosecution meanwhile has accused Ouda of inciting violence during the Al-Bahr Al-Aazam incident on 16 July in a similar case in which the court also ordered his detainment for another 15 days.

Ouda is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and former Minister of Supply in Hesham Qandil’s cabinet.
