According to the new constitutional draft, Article 45 includes an important sentence on animal rights. The article, which tackles the protection of nature reserves and wildlife, also holds two key words that mandate “animal welfare”. This is quite the achievement for animal rights supporters, which have struggled to make animal cruelty illegal. The law makes it possible to legally punish those who are cruel to animals.
