The Egyptian clock, known as the “Temple Gate” clock, was designed by Cartier in 1927 and was inspired by the Karnak temple in Luxor, embellished with mother of pearl and lapis lazuli. It is part of the exhibition dedicated to French luxury watchmaker-jeweller, Cartier, entitled “Cartier, le style, l’histoire” (Cartier, style and history) at the Grand Palais in Paris. Other pieces include the royal diadem worn by Kate Middleton at her wedding, Grace Kelly’s diamond engagement ring and the tiara Cartier created in 1936 for the British royal family. The exhibition runs until 16 February 2014.
