Minister of Communication and Information Technology Atef Helmy inaugurated on Monday the 17th annual Cairo ICT (Information Communication Technology) exhibition under the slogan of “Building bridges”.
The aim of the exhibition is to provide information technology (IT), telecom and communication companies an opportunity to highlight their market, interact with customers and underscore the most important achievements over the past year. It also provides a platform for participants to learn about latest initiatives and projects in the IT sector.
The inauguration was attended by Saudi Minister of Communication Mohamed bin Jameel Mulla along with a number of African ministries. Helmy was also accompanied by ministers of Investment, Tourism, Supply, Aviations and Administrative Development.
Communication companies showcased to the minister their future visions and plans in order to increase their revenues.
The exhibition is expected to see the signing of a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding, the communications ministry said in a statement.
“We took part in the exhibition in order to inform the business community of the advantages Schneider Electric can provide,” said Sherif Abdel Fattah, the company’s deputy executive chairman.
The ministry launched during the exhibition the pilot for its project to establish high-speed internet initiative “broadband”, at a cost of EGP 350m.
Cairo ICT opens its doors from 9 to 12 December at the Cairo International Conference Center, with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates as guests of honour.
