Greenland Group, one of Egypt’s biggest cheese producers, announced in a press release its plans to cooperate with Tetra Pak to start production on its A3/Speed production line.

Tetra Pak A3/Speed line is the newest and fastest packaging solution from Tetra Pak, which is designed to enhance the efficiency of the process. It is the first time worldwide that cheese was produced using this line.

This line is expected to reduce the operational costs by 40%, and would also increase the production capacity of Tetra Pak per year from 85 million to 235 million to meet the increased demand in the white cheese market, read the statement.

Greenland invested around EGP 20m to upgrade cheese production lines and increase their capacity.

Managing Director of Tetra Pak Egypt Anders Lindgren said that the company was the answer to meeting Greenland’s growth aspirations in the cheese market. “The past four years has seen a significant growth of up to 50% in capital equipment investment for white cheese producers in Egypt,” Lindgren said.

Meanwhile, Hamdy Abdel Raouf, Greenland’s Chairman and Managing Director, stated the new line comes in accordance with the company’s plans to sustain their market position.

Greenland plans to invest around EGP 60m in renovations and replacing production lines to exceed their sales revenues to reach EGP 1bn in 2014, said Nader Sabah, Greenland’s marketing director, according to the statement.

According to Sabah, the white cheese market is growing continuously by an average of 28% over the past five years.

Greenland Group for Food Industries was founded in Egypt in 1995 and was acquired by the Americana Group in 2005 in its ongoing efforts to become the regional benchmark of the food industry. Tetra Pak is the world’s leading food processing and packaging solutions company.
