The United Nations Volunteers programme, in partnership with UN Women, Plan International, Vodafone Egypt Foundation and Microsoft will host the annual International Volunteer Day (IVD) event at the Cairo Opera House on Thursday, 12 December, 2013.
The IVD event, which is free and open to the public, focuses on awareness and recognition by bringing together volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations to recognise their work and reinforce the importance of volunteerism. This year’s event will feature the launch of a volunteerism guide which focuses on case studies of volunteer-oriented organisations within Egypt.
The volunteer guide launch will be held at the Theatre of ElHedara Cinema in the Cairo Opera House from 2pm-4pm. An NGO Fair, Book Fair, youth activities, youth play performance as well as musical performances by Masar Egbari and Wust ElBalad will take place between 12pm-9pm in the AlMedani Open Area of the Cairo Opera House.
