One dead outside a polling station in Beni Suef

One person was shot dead during clashes between demonstrators protesting against the referendum and police forces outside a polling station in Beni Suef on Tuesday.

“Around 150 armed Muslim Brotherhood members assembled in front of the polling station in Nasser district in Beni Suef and tried to stop voters from casting their votes, so police forces interfered. The [Muslim] Brotherhood members initiated with opening fire so police forces responded, which led to the death of Mahmoud Sayed, a Brotherhood member,” the Ministry of Interior media centre said.

Sayed’s death is the first in clashes relating to the referendum on the draft constitution.
