An explosion caused by a homemade improvised explosive device (IED) killed one policeman and injured nine in Dokki on Friday morning.
The IED exploded in Tahrir Street in Dokki at around 9:45am, killing one policeman and injuring nine of those charged with patrolling the area, said a brief statement from the Ministry of Interior.
State-owned Al-Ahram reported that the IED was put under a tree close to “Ikhwan Maqar” company headquarters.
The explosion happened three hours after a car bomb exploded in the vicinity of the Cairo Security Directorate.
