Al-Ahly football club suffered from its second loss of 0-1 against Dakhlia football club last Monday night.
Dakhlia’s Ahmed Temsah was able to score a clean goal after overcoming Al-Ahly defencemen Saad Samir and Ahmed Nabil “Manga”.
Referee Gehad Greishah cancelled a goal Al-Ahly’s attacker Mohamed Naguib at minute 26 due to an offside. Yalla Kora reported that Al-Ahly Coach Mohamed Youssef lamented the “rough patch” his club is going through due to the large number of injuries among its star players and the retirement of some others. Team striker Al-Sayed Hamdy meanwhile called it “bad luck”.
Al-Ahly’s first loss of the season was 1-2 against Arab Contractors last Thursday. The two consecutive losses come as a first since the 2008-2007 season.
Arab Contractors currently leads Group A with 14 points after the Mountain Wolves won 3-1 against Al-Gouna and by Al-Ahly’s second loss its points froze to 12.
In Group B Al-Zamalek drew 2-2 with Petrojet on Saturday. Al-Zamalek Midfielder Nour Al-Sayed will be missing the following three matches after receiving a red card on Petrojet’s match. The team’s coach, Ahmed Hossam Mido, levied a legal fine of EGP 5,000 against the carded player as decided by the club’s bylaws.
On 29 January, Al-Zamalek’s Ahmed Aly scored his team’s winning goal against Al-Menya, in Group B of the Egyptian Premium League.
