A passer-by accidentally set off a sound bomb in the Marghany area of Heliopolis on Saturday, reported the Ministry of Interior.
The man, described by the ministry to be a worker from a nearby street, noticed an “unidentified object”, which exploded when he tampered with it.
Security forces arrived to inspect the scene and conducted a sweep of the surrounding area, finding a similar device that had not exploded. Police diffused the bomb.
Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Hany Abdel-Latif confirmed there were no injuries as a result of the blast.
